In the past few months, I’ve come to realize that I haven’t been able to devote as much time to the site. I just haven’t been able to give it the attention and effort that I think it deserves and unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to change in the near future. I’m not entirely sure what form the site will take in 2025. It certainly won’t be the 2-3 times a week that you might be used to.

There are potential posts that I’ve been hoping to develop going back for months that I just haven’t been able to get to. Even this post has taken me a month or more to put into writing. There are only so many hours in the day and RahwayRising.com has been taking a back seat to other priorities. The posts that I have been able to muster lately are what I consider low-hanging fruit: simpler ones that don’t take a lot of time and effort or follow-up to get out there. (Take for example the library budget issue of the past few months; I’ve posted a few times about it though not anything I would consider good journalism but something closer to stenography like what so many other local news sites have become. I just haven’t had the time to really tackle that story beyond City Council meetings).

My hope is to at least maintain RahwayRising.com as an archive of sorts. I’ve always prided myself on being that sort of repository of recent history when it came to certain sites or projects around town. If someone is curious about most anything in Rahway, often all it takes is typing in a keyword into the search box and they’ll find some answer. I think that’s important. If you’d like to continue supporting via Patreon, know that you contribution would go toward maintaining the website so that RahwayRising.com doesn’t end up a dead link.

Whether you’ve been reading and supporting the site since the beginning, or more recently, I thank you. I’m always made more hopeful by the people who read it regularly, comment, and ask good questions, but especially those who go even further and support the site with contributions. I’m also grateful to longtime advertisers like Mr B. Printing and Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home who have supported the site. It’s amazing – and scary – how the local news ecosystem has changed in recent years and how difficult it is to find information on what’s going on in your community. But that’s a post for another time.

  1. I hear you Mark. Same boat, different issues and a 1 man show. Sign of the times? All one has to do is check out the governmental mtgs and boards, county, BOE, muni, even UCIA, UCUA, transportation, etc etc etc. 1 or 2 residents tops most of the time. And from that we get the NJ politics that we deserve, politicians, relatives, friends, pol bosses, donors all on the govt dole, minimal experience, minimal work but great pay and bennies pushing aside those that really work in the trenches. I could write a book on Union County, the soprano county in the form of what Ingalls did on the state.
