Editor’s note: This was sent via email to all three Rahway mayoral candidates on Thursday night:
I’m sure you’re busy in the thick of campaign season, so my apologies for not reaching out to you sooner.
One of the single most important responsibilities of media is to inform citizens, especially during election season, and particularly at the local level. I’d like to offer you the opportunity to present readers of Rahway Rising with your platform on redevelopment. How you define redevelopment, I leave up to you. The only ground rules are as follows:
WORD LIMIT: No more than 500 words. I will only edit for length — not for grammar, spelling, etc. — so after the 500th word (according to MS Word’s Word Count function), your space will end — whether in the middle of a sentence or not.
DUE DATE: Friday, Oct. 24, 11:59 p.m. My email account must have recorded receipt no later than 11:59 p.m. (Saturday at 12:01 a.m. is too late). Please send your submissions as an MS Word attachment if possible.
PUBLICATION DATE: Monday, Oct. 27 – Wednesday, Oct. 29. The order of publication will be determined by a random drawing by someone with no connection or affiliation to Rahway.
PHOTO: Please also provide a recent .jpg headshot to run with your submission.
All mayoral candidates in Rahway have been presented with the same opportunity to reach the readership of a dedicated local website with average monthly page views of 8,000-plus and more than 1,500 followers on social media. I leave it up to each one to decide whether they would like to take it.
Please confirm receipt of this email as soon as possible, along with a cell/home phone number where you can be reached should there be any questions about your submission. If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you.
A key issue for Rahway. Will be very interested to hear the responses!
This is a good idea. I am looking forward to seeing the responses.
