City Council approved a tax appeal settlement with a New Brunswick Avenue industrial property, adding another two years to an appeal covering nearly the last decade and totaling more than a quarter-million dollars.
A multi-year tax appeal settled for the commercial and hotel space at Carriage City Plaza yielded a combined refund of $85,000, a reduction of about 12.5 percent of its tax bill over the four disputed years.
A New Brunswick Avenue property will receive a refund of more than 12 percent across five tax years – as far back as 2009 – while withdrawing tax appeals on three adjacent properties.
An Elston Street industrial property won another round of tax appeals, this time for the tax years 2014 and 2015, resulting in about a 22-percent refund on its property taxes.
