Did you know there’s a horse farm in Rahway? Well now you do, and now you know it was purchased by Union County through the Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Trust Fund, according to this report.
Rahway will create more than three miles of designated bikeways under a pair of ordinances introduced by City Council. The governing body introduced two ordinances at its Feb. 11 regular meeting. A public hearing and final approval of the legislation is scheduled for the March 11 regular meeting. The first ordinance…
Almost $42,000 in property taxes have been canceled for 2011 in connection with redevelopment projects downtown and the Arts District. The City Council approved resolutions to cancel the taxes at its regular meeting on May 3. A breakdown of the canceled property taxes by parcel can be found in this…
There was only one post this week on the blog but it was a good one: a look at 2019 crime data. Crime was down again in Rahway, about 32 percent, continuing a long-term trend in the city and beyond. Patrons of RahwayRising get exclusive access to long-term crime data…

I've been to Tauros Tapas a few times and have always had a good meal. You can eat in the front bar area (ideal if you want to watch Spain or Portugal's national football team play), or there is a new restaurant seating area in the back.
I grew up here and boarded my horse here. When it inevitably went up for sale after the owners passed away I was so depressed thinking about my childhood being knocked down and new homes being put up instead. The farm has an amazing history that I won't go into detail about now, but needless to say I was THRILLED when I found out this was saved by the county!!!
My first job was mucking the horse stalls, bailing hay, cutting the 2.50 acres of grass with a push mower from 1977 to 1987. The front lawn had a huge hill, a challenge cutting that! .Bill Wolf used to nick name me “Spider” and I dug out the basement by with a hand trowel and bucket so heat ducting could be installed. The bricks in the wall were from the turn of the century and stamped C & S brick company. i used some of these bricks to build my fireplace hearth in Colonia. While digging, I found a tiny porcelain doll for a doll house hand painted facial features. The barn in the back was for boarding horses. All the horse owners were pretty young women! It was a pleasure working there as a teenage boy! Chris “Spider” Reilly
Iam so happy to see the old Getts farm is being saved. The last people to own it were Grace and Bill Wolf. I first rode there on July 22 1942, when it was Rolling Acres Ranch, run bya few Rahway police men Jim Albers. Later my friend Margie and I took care of the horses for a dealer, for a couple of years, happy days gone by Rozi

I lived in Woodbridge and took riding lessons there every Saturday. Loved it!
