Eighty Eights, the live jazz restaurant at Main and Lewis streets, is on the way out, and apparently a Cuban-type restaurant is on the way in. A liquor license transfer was approved last week, from Eighty Eights to Cubanu. Typically, a liquor license transfer is completed as part of a sale of the entire business.
Eighty Eights had been there only a year, having replaced Fat Tuesday’s, a Cajun-style bar and restaurant that owner Maurice Flynn renovated the space for in 2000.
Another liquor license transfer approved last week was for KC Jazz Restaurant, the long-talked about jazz club at the former Kelly’s Pub, across from the Arts Guild on Irving Street. KC Jazz appeared before the Planning Board in July.
