In a recent message to its membership, the Rahway Chamber of Commerce said the Rahway Police Department is aware of the increase in graffiti in town, and offered the following suggestions for residents and businesses who come across any damage from graffiti:
- Check for video after damage has occurred, if applicable
- Call the Police Department‘s non-emergency telephone number (732-827-2200) so it can be photographed and a police report can be generated.
- Remove the graffiti from the building as quickly as possible to ensure that more damage does not occur.
- Ensure lighting in and around the residence or business is adequate
The city asks residents and businesses to report any information about graffiti tagging or locations where tagging has taken place. If possible, submit photos and addresses of tagged locations as well as dates and times. Any information should be emailed to keeprahwayrclean@rahwaypolice.com
A similar situation occurred about 10 years ago and the Chamber of Commerce, working with the Police Department, sent a similar message to members.
