A hotel that broke ground early this year is taking shape along East Milton Avenue, just off Routes 1/9. The four-story complex, adjacent to Best Western on Paterson Street and abutting Lennington Street, is slated to become a 93-unit Home2Suites by Hilton.
The 4-acre site (667 E. Milton Ave./Block 338, Lots 3.01 & 3.02) had been vacant since a one-story Deluxe Inn was demolished almost a decade ago. The two parcels currently have a combined annual tax bill of about $12,400 (on an assessment of $215,000), according to property records, which should rise considerably once construction is completed. The adjacent Best Western Riverview Inn & Suites has 74 rooms on five floors on 1.1 acres, with an annual property tax bill of about $140,300, based on a total assessment of $2,433,700.
The Planning Board gave its approval of the project in March 2009 after original plans to built a Sleep Inn were scrapped in favor of a Candlewood Suites, that was planned as three stories and 72 units.
Considered a mid-tier, extended stay brand of Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton was launched in January 2008.
