A public hearing and final approval of an ordinance that would restrict parking along Pierpont Street will be held during the City Council’s regular meeting on Monday.
City Administrator and Redevelopment Director Peter Pelissier said complaints were received about commuters parking along much Pierpont Street, making it difficult for residents to find parking for their own cars and visitors. Residents were surveyed and only one negative response was received, according to city officials. Residents would get a Parking Authority sticker to place on their cars.
Wenson-Maier lives on nearby Bryant Street where parking also was restricted in recent years. “It took some getting used to but it was heavily overparked and it’s better for a majority of the block. It’s a little bit of a hassle but it’s provided some more parking,” she said.
I live on Elm and we had the same problem and a couple years ago they made it permit parking also. It was a big help, we can now park in front of our house.
i own the big brown house on the corner and i think they never should have opened the handicap house in the first place, thats the reason there is no parking. every year they park right on my leaves and the city cant pick them up. they constantly have vans double parking and honk their horns repeadedly. add together the staff and the visitors and its no wonder there is never any parking. i know that businesse have to provide enough parking for their people or they wont let them open and i dont know why these people didnt have to. funny, nobody polled me on this !
i remember last year my tenant shoveled his wife a nice spot and went inside and then one of the women from that place parked in it . i also had to jump start their van on several occasions in order to get the people out of the van. it was 95 degrees and they were stuck in the van for an hour and a half ! three different times !
what's up with rpa raising monthly rates but then having the machines out of order so that ppl who aren't monthly park for free?
