It’s that time of year to get outside and enjoy the weather, even if it is a little sweltering lately. But really, with a little shade to beat the beat, what’s better than some al fresco dining? That’s why the monthly reader poll for June, sponsored by RahwayIsHappening.com (the Rahway Special Improvement District), sought your opinion on your favorite outdoor dining option:

What’s your favorite outdoor dining spot in Rahway?

  1. The Coffee Box — 36% (64/180 votes)
  2. The Irving Social — 15% (27/180 votes)
  3. R&J Pizzeria — 8% (15/180 votes)
  4. La Chula Tex-Mex — 7.2% (13/180 votes)
  5. Il Forno a Legna — 6.67% (12/180 votes)
  6. Flynn’s Pub House — 6% (10/180 votes)
  7. [TIE] Hugo’s — 5% (9/180 votes)
  8. Sabor Peruano — 5% (9/180 votes)
  9. [TIE] The “World Famous” Waiting Room — 3% (5/180 votes)
  10. Cubanu — 3% (5/180 votes)
  11. Gigi’s Latin Bistro — 2% (3/180 votes)
  12. The Lounge at Watt — 1.11% (2/180 votes)
  13. Other — 0.55% (1/180 votes)

The Coffee Box came out on top, garnering 36% of the vote, ahead of The Irving Social with 15%. So, the two accounted for just over one half of the total 180 votes cast. It was quite a pileup after that, with only a vote or two separating everyone between 3rd place and 8th place.

The Coffee Box

The Coffee Box adds to its virtual trophy case, joining their Favorite Coffee Spot victory back in March. The Coffee Box enjoys a fine location for outdoor dining at the corner of Irving and East Cherry streets, and goes to show how something as simple as sidewalks that are just a little wider can enhance an area.

There was one vote for Other, so we’re all dying to know what place might have been – let us know in the comments. In the meantime, keep an eye out for a new poll coming up for July. Thanks to everyone who voted!
