It was a real runaway in this month’s poll. It had been awhile since there was that wide a margin of victory. The May reader poll, sponsored by RahwayIsHappening.com, the Rahway Special Improvement District (SID), asked:

What are your favorite tacos in Rahway?

  1. Adeline Deli — 57% (90/157 votes)
  2. La Malinche — 12% (19/157)
  3. Antojitos Salvadoreños Pupuseria & Grocery — 10% (16/157)
  4. La Chula Tex-Mex — 5% (8/157)
  5. Cubanu — 4% (7/157)
  6. Romero’s Tavern 1947 — 3% (5/157)
  7. Las Piñatas — 3% (5/157)
  8. Bianca’s Deli  — 2% (3/157)
  9. The “World Famous” Waiting Room — 1% (2/157)
  10. The Irving Social — 1% (1/157)
  11. Other — 1% (1/157)

There were a total of 157 votes cast, most of them seemed to come in early in the month, likely hot off the heels of Taco Tuesday.

Adeline

There had to be a new winner this year since the 2023 champion closed. Adeline Deli, a relatively new spot downtown, took up the mantle this year, gobbling up so many votes early and often as if there was plenty of guacamole for the chips. The East Milton Avenue joint grabbed a majority win with 57 percent of the overall vote, securing more votes than all the other choices combined.

La Malinche nabbed second place with 12%, an improvement over last year’s 2nd place finish, followed closely by Antojitos Salvadoreños Pupuseria & Grocery at 10%. After that, it was a smattering of votes across the board, with a little for everyone. And of course, we’re all curious: Who was the one vote for Other? Let everyone know in the comments.

Tune in for the next reader poll which should be posted shortly after the calendar flips to June.
