A St. Georges Avenue office building won a tax appeal judgment last year that resulted in a 64-percent refund of its almost $47,000 property tax bill for theĀ 2010 tax year.
City Council approved AR-231-14, authorizing a refund of $29,926.12 after the property won a successful judgment in state Tax Court. Last year the property had a tax bill of about $46,691.30. (The resolution was passed at the Dec. 8 regular meeting but I’m just catching up on some old resolutions).
The property at 1733-1743 St. Georges Ave. (Block 210, Lot 10), near the corner of Harrison Street, has undergone extensive renovations in recent years and involved a bankruptcy and vacancy. The site also was among almost 70 properties that were approved for 2014 tax appeal settlements by City Council at the county tax board. It won a reduction of $13,475, or 29 percent, on its tax bill last year.
The property was assessed at $752,600 until this year when it was lowered to $535,400. It changed hands in March 2012 for $500,000, according to property records. The 16,000-square-foot building, according to this listing, was once home to a personal injury law firm, Team Law, now located in Clark.
