The developer who once proposed 80 units for the Station Place development is expected to come before the Planning Board Tuesday night with plans to convert the project into 116 rental units.
Clay Bonny of East Hanover-based Heartstone Development advised the Redevelopment Agency in May of plans to change the Campbell Street development into rental units. The project would remain five stories but would need Planning Board approval for the increased density on the 1.6-acre site. Zoning allows for about 60 units per acre.
Heartstone also constructed River Place, the 135-unit rental complex on Lewis Street.

They were approved for 20 units over the 60 per acre zoning and now that’s not good enough? Throw ice on the project.
Just another way to spend our money.
ok, I think Rahway needs to hold on to building more condos. Let’s first bring people into town to fill in the ones already built and complete the construction on the ones already started.
No Rahway needs to continue down this path. It’s not more condos it rentals.get it approved. high end rentals are great for the downtown. they will bring people and more good restarants and stores will follow. plus lets face it we are not going to miss the building they are tearing down
High end rentals or slums of the future. 80 units are more than generous for the space.
Anon, 4:02,Density allows 60 units per acre. At approximately 1.6 acres, that would be roughly 96 units.Developer previously received approval for 80 for-sale condo units and now is seeking approval for 116 rentals.
Does anyone know which if any houses are going to be demolished on Elm and/or W. Cherry? And what about the two brick apartment buildings on Elm, are they slated to go?
It looks like the best-laid plans of the builders are being altered. Rahway housing prices are back to 2005 and falling fast, and a glut of condos will only drive prices lower in the condo market. The next question to ask is if the projects are even viable as rentals?
Bigger rentals would be attractive, not the small ones already available. How about some 3BR places for people who want to try before they buy in town? More condos = disaster. As it is, half the Skyview condos that have sold are available as rentals. Are there plans to demo some of the Cherry st. homes? That street would be wonderful in terms of location if only they could clear out the riff raff.
“And what about the two brick apartment buildings on Elm, are they slated to go?”They should be condemned, they’re full of bedbugs!
What kind of kickbacks will double dipper and the other politians get on this deal? and how much is it going to cost us,maybe a house in south dakota?
