Demolition of some of the buildings on the long-dormant Wheatena and Quinn & Boden properties started in earnest over the last week.

A tax appeal settlement on the former Wheatena factory property along Elizabeth Avenue yielded a tax refund for the previous owner of almost $61,000 — a reduction of more than 11 percent over the last four years.
Wheatena properties go for $4.7 million
The developer of the former Wheatena property on Elizabeth Avenue paid $4.7 million for the collection of parcels where 489 rental units are planned, according to property transaction records.
Wheatena demolition coming soon
Demolition of the former Wheatena and Quinn & Boden buildings on Elizabeth Avenue is expected to begin in the next week or two and should last nearly three months.

The Planning Board unanimously approved preliminary and final major site plans for a 487-unit rental development at the former Wheatena site on Elizabeth and West Grand avenues.
