Pizza poll results: Your favorite pizzeria

The results of the latest pizza poll are in and it pretty much came down to two pizza places that garnered more than two-thirds of the total 155 votes tallied:

What’s your favorite place for pizza in Rahway?
Nunzio’s II, 40 percent (62/155 votes)
Nancy’s Towne House, 27 percent (42/155)
Tony’s, 7 percent (11/155)
Papa Vito’s/Plum Tomato, 6 percent (10/155)
Brooklyn Pizza, 5 percent (8/155)
Gino’s, 5 percent (8/155)
Michelino’s, 3 percent (6/155)
Other, 2 percent (4/155)
Ted’s Pizzeria, 1 percent (2/155)
Subworks, 0.65 percent (1/155)
Buona Pizza, 0 percent (0/155)
KC’s Pizzeria, 0 percent (0/155)

The first day of the poll brought in almost 30 votes, with Nancy’s Towne House grabbing the early lead. After a few more days and a few dozen more votes, Nancy’s Towne House and another contender, Nunzio’s II, seemed to have separated themselves from the pack. It was a two-horse race from there on in, with the two pizzerias finishing with more than two-thirds of all the votes.

Nancy’s has always fared well in the poll but Nunzio’s II was a bit of a surprise considering its modest finishes in previous polls. Third place went to Tony’s and the former Papa Vito, now going by the name Plum Tomato, was the only other option that grabbed at least 10 votes.

What was odd though was a week or two into the poll, we surprisingly got more than 20 votes in one day, and most of them seemingly for one particular place (Nunzio’s II). That always raises some questions since we don’t track where votes came from and it can be manipulated by most anyone who’d have the time or effort to feel like doing it.

Poll results: What’s your favorite pizza place?

If our last poll is any indication, there are two pretty clear favorites among Rahway pizza parlors, a few more that get some support among readers, followed by a smattering of others around town.

Poll: Your favorite pizza place

We’ve asked this poll question before but readers seem to have a lot of fun with it, so consider it our fourth annual (completely unscientific and just for fun) Pizza Poll. Besides, it’ll give us something to talk about during these slower summer months while we’re on vacation.

The first three polls had left out a few options but I think most every option is included this time around:

What’s your favorite place for pizza in Rahway?
Brooklyn Pizza
Buona Pizza
Gino’s
KC’s Pizzeria
Michelino’s
Nunzio’s II
Nancy’s Towne House
Papa Vito
Rahway Pizza
Subworks
Ted’s Pizzeria
Tony’s
Other

Be sure to click one of the options on the right-hand side of our home page. If you’re reading via an email, click on the link to land on the main Rahway Rising page and vote in the poll.

Panel discussion on arts-fueled redevelopment

I’ve been invited to participate next week in a panel discussion about redevelopment and since it’s been a few months since we had a Rahway Rising happy hour, maybe you’d like to consider it and join us.

The Young Community Development Professionals Association (YCDPA) and New Jersey Emerging Arts Leaders will host the discussion on how cities are using arts to redevelop, specifically looking at efforts in Rahway to spur downtown redevelopment. The panel will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Nancy’s Towne House, 1453 Main St. Admission is free and will include a question-and-answer session.

The panel will include former Mayor and former Arts District executive director James Kennedy and Rodney Gilbert, founder and CEO of Yendor Productions, a Newark-based consulting firm that develops and produces arts education and programming and events.

Rahway Rising Happy Hour next week

Back by popular demand — and far too long in the making — the next Rahway Rising happy hour will be next Thursday, Jan. 26 at Nancy’s Towne House.

The groupies tend to start arriving around 6 p.m. Hope to see you there. Anyone with an interest in having some fun, maybe chatting a little about redevelopment, or just meeting your neighbors. All are welcome.

We’ll also be raffling off two tickets to The Rahway Taste of Spring. Maybe afterward we’ll all hit up the Mayors Council on Rahway River Watershed Flood Control meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the library.

The revenge of Rahway Pizza

Call it the revenge of Rahway Pizza. Our first poll on the best pizza in Rahway had some glaring omissions, namely Rahway Pizza and Papa Vito, so we decided to try again since it’s been a year, and we have more readers (or so Google Analytics tells me).
