The developer of an East Cherry Street project hopes to begin site work on the development by the spring.
DMR Construction has an aggressive timeline, hoping to begin site work and be in the foundation on The Gramercy by March, according to Redevelopment Director Leonard Bier, who briefed commissioners on the project, among others, during the Jan. 6 Redevelopment Agency meeting.
The Planning Board in November approved a five-story, 45-unit rental project that will encompass what is currently three properties along 38-52 E. Cherry St., (Block 318, Lots 18-21 and 1.03). The three lots would be razed to make way for the new construction.
The 45 units would include 23 one-bedrooms, 19 two-bedrooms and 3 studios, ranging from 455 to 1,030 square feet. A retail space of 1,215 square feet will include a Rock’n’Joe Coffee Bar.
