Work on the future site of Station Bar & Grill on Irving Street appears to have made its way to the front exterior of the building last week.
Some interior work looks like it was going on for a few weeks. The project was approved by the Planning Board in June, details of which can be found in the earlier post.

For a look at what some nearby towns have in mind as far as redevelopment, here’s a piece from nj.com about Fanwood’s efforts to make its downtown more like Cranford or Westfield.

The evening options downtown are steadily increasing. Cubanu, Lucianos, Waiting Room, Skyview bar and now this place in a short time on top of some already great existing places like Nancys and Flynns. And KC Jazz if that place ever opens up. I like it!
Can't wait until they finish the apartment building on that side of town and get that place occupied. It's really going to draw more folks to that side of the train station and expand the downtown flow of people. Nice to see progress being made …
Great to see progress in this town. Even the UCPAC starting to get get some nice Event went to the Comedy show in Augsut had a woderful time came wait for the Dec. 5th show nice to have something to do locally especially with family coming to town for the holidays. Keep it coming Rahway!
Just a suggestion…take another pic of this place. While walking by this morning I noticed that the facade has been torn down exposing the outside of the old PUBLIC SERVICE building. One of the co-owners happened to be there and he told us of some of the plans for renovation. I suggested that he name the new restaurant *Public Service* since it's already part of the structure! Looks like a really neat old building worthy of renovation and preservation. Looking forward to having dinner there sometime soon.
Cornus, this is Rahway. With our luck, the developer will toss the attractive Public Service sign and logo in a dumpster by Thankgiving and replace it with a vinyl awning 😉
