The new park along Essex Street near Riverwalk is taking shape, with work having begun several weeks ago. Installation of fitness stations began last week (although you can’t see them in the photo above). The City Council approved a $1-million bond ordinance for park improvements back in March.

This has nothing to do with anything but, is it just me or does anyone else think of the guy from The Shield whenever “Joe the Plumber” has been in the news lately?

Yeah- he was on Reggis this morning and he does. But i think HE could afford to buy his own plumbing company and NOT worry about tax implications!!
Will there be a playground area for kids at the park? Anyone have a link to a map of the site online that details the fitness stuff, swings, etc?
The park sounds cool. Glad they are doing some work on that except I would feel like a dork working out on the bench equipment. Not to hijack the thread but anyone eaten at the new healthy joint on Cherry St.? I was gonna swing by soon.
Essex St. park is a “passive park.” It’s gonna have exercise trails, a gazebo and some spots to watch the birds.
For those of us that live on Essex street we’ve been waiting years for this park. I’m glad they’re finally finishing it up but I would have liked to see less exercise stations and more benches and places to grill. What’s the point of building exercise stations on a park trail that’s barely a 1/4 mile long?
Where does a young family go downtown to push their kids on some swings and teach them to go down a slide?
I hope the park will have a playground for kids too!I love seeing more parks in Rahway! As a side note and suggestion to Mark, it would be great if you could code your links to open on a different page. Not only is annoying to have to click the back button afterwards, it also moves people away from the site, which obviously you don’t want to.Let me know if you need the code for it. I’ll be glad to provide it to you!
yeah, good question…where can we see the plans for the park?
